Frequently Asked Questions...Do I need a broadband connection to view the videos?Although we highly recommend a broadband connection to enable a smooth viewing of the videos (250Kbps), we have "low" speed versions of our videos that are intended for users on an ISDN type connection (approx 128kbps). For customers using a dial-up modem we suggest using the audio only version of our presentations. Do I need any particular software to view the videos or the powerpoint producer presentations? We highly recommend that you download and install the latest version of WIndows Media Player to ensure the best possible playback of our content. As our videos are based on Windows media architecture we advise that you access our site through Windows Internet Explorer. We strongly advise you to update to the latest version of 'Windows Media Player' which is free to download from the following Microsoft web site http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/download/default.asp I am trying to watch the videos through my network at work. Why can't I connect?Your system administrator has more than likely disabled the downloading of multimedia across your network. You need to discuss this matter with your IT support team. They may allow selectively access to our server IP address. The sound through my computer is choppy or garbled. What can I do to fix it?Ensure you have the latest drivers for your sound card, visit the manufacturers website to download the drivers. The video is jerky it is like a succession of images rather than a smooth video? Most likely you are trying to view a video with a bit rate that is higher than what you internet connection speed. You should try to view the lower quality video (ISDN if you are having difficulties with broadband or audio only if you are having diffiuclties with ISDN). You need to check you windows Media Player settings under Tools>Options>Performance...check that the connection settings are the right one for your type of connection. You may also try increasing the buffer to 20-30seconds. Who can view a live broadcast?Live broadcast can be private or public. When an event is defined as private to an institution, like a college or an association, the access is only limited to the member of this institution. The access to the video will be passworded. If the broadcast is public then anyone on the in ternet with the right hardware and software will be able to access it, after paying the fee if it is a payed event and free if it is a sponsored event. How many persons can view a live broadcast ?Our dedicated server is designed to handle a large number of simultaneous streams. Depending on the quality of the streams that is the bitrate we can provide more than 250 concurrent streams. Can a viewer download and keep a copy of a video ?As a rule Audio Visual Archives does not allow the download of videos. Videos are streamed unless otherwise organised with the copyright owner. How do I know that using my credit card is safe?
We have implemented security measures designed to provide the peace of mind you should expect when purchasing goods over the internet. To protect your credit card information, our server uses SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) to connect to our website. From our website we use "CommWeb" the payment gateway of the Commonwealth Bank of Australia. Your credit details are kept private between yourself and the Commonwealth Bank . At no time during this process, AVA is made aware of your credit card number. The following indicates that you have entered a secure session and will be present when you are requested to ender your credit card details:
How much notice time do you need before the event? It all depends on crew availability. Keeping in mind that most events are booked and organised weeks if not months in advance. Ideally, a three weeks notice prior to the event will give us enought time to properly organise crew and equipmets for the recording or the live broadcast. We are based in Sydney Australia but in some situations when prior arrangements have been made with Psyche in Health and Illness Editors we have arrangements with filming crews from around the world. We will do our utmost in situations where there is a need to accommodate for the short notice. Will it be possible to view thevideo of the broadcast delayed, like the next day or the next week on the web?Yes and no. The video of the live broacast will be available for 'on demand' viewing at a later date depends on the arrangement that has been organised between Audio Visual Archives, the speaker and the event organisers. If a lecture at a later date is published by Psyche in Health and illness than it will be available to subscribers or to pay per view. Why is the powerpoint presentation not playing on my computer ?This format is new to the Internet and still suffering from some limitations. Presentation will not display for the time being on Firefox With some systems using old versions of Windows you will be asked to download a software called msorun.exe. from Microsoft web site . This should be a smooth and automated short procedure. We do not recommentd to change language from English during the setup of this lette software as some of our customers ended up not being able to find the software. As the presentation windows Media Player doesn't have a status bar one cannot see if it is buffering, that is downloading a part of the video onto your hard disk for a smoother uninterrupted play. This on some connection may take uyp to a min. with only a black screen on the player and no sound . This is normal please be patient . On hight speed ADSL connections the presentation may start playing instantly .
